Due to internal growth and a huge pipeline of projects, my client, a successful utilities provider, has an opportunity available for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join their team on a permanent basis.

As Senior Business Analyst within the Finance team, you will be responsible for managing and developing financial models, monitoring operational and financial data against the models, and producing first-rate strategic, tactical and informational reports. You will report to the Chief Finance Officer and work closely with all areas of the business – PMO, Operations, Technology, Sales, and Senior Management. You will manage strategic financial planning for internal stakeholders and for the investor, to inform decisions, visualise trends, monitor status, and improve our models.

Responsible for the following areas and activities:

·Developing the company’s financial models to support the organisation’s strategic goals

·Leading and defining the strategic approach to managing and controlling the ‘single source of truth’ data sets and KPIs

·Collating, processing and interpreting large volumes of data from our build programmes to provide quality input and challenge to business cases

·Identifying and scoping all analysis work streams on our programmes, co-ordinating the analysts in other areas of the business to deliver these effectively

· Strategic analysis of actual costs and reporting operational variance against the financial models, and the impact of variance on the key financial outputs

·Delivering tactical business reports and dashboards to help to analyse historical data and visualise trends to help stakeholders gain deeper understanding

·Delivering strategic dashboards to help Senior Management track key performance indicators (KPIs) and make strategic decisions by evaluating performance based on the organisation’s goals.

·Continuous improvement of financial modelling processes, automation and developing best practice.

The Person

The perfect person will have an exceptional analytical background with experience in infrastructure related projects. Experience in the telecoms industry would be advantageous but not a necessity as would experience of working with public sector clients and public funded programmes.


·5+ years of experience with business analysis in a multi-disciplined and commercial environment

· Advanced Excel skills. Experience in GIS software is advantageous

·A high level of consulting, analytical, data handling and problem-solving skills, including both strategic analysis and financial acumen

·Proven conflict management skills with the ability to influence at all levels within the organisation

·Experience in auditing detailed spreadsheet models

·Experience in producing clear and concise strategic and/or tactical dashboards for senior management is desirable

·Experience in process improvement and process automation

·Organised with good document management capabilities with experience in change control and change management

·Strong sense of values, ethics, and confidentiality, for dealing with sensitive information.

· Independent/self-starter, proactive and hard working

· Personality; interacts comfortably with other people.
