Our busy construction client in the Magherafelt area requires a Parts Assistant (Maintenance) to join the Production department. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be Responsible for assisting the Parts Manager in the daily operation of the stores department, ensuring the correct items are available to enable all factory maintenance to be completed as planned and as per the timeframes provided. This involves learning all the key components that the factories require and ensuring items are purchased and stored in accordance with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data entry of all new stock onto ERP system;
  • Complete mechanical understanding of all factories is required – Training will be provided.
  • Handling all items within the store as per company procedure
  • Purchasing items as required and in line with factory maintenance plans – Training will be provided.
  • Fully understand the annual maintenance plans for each factory and the role Stores must play to support this – Training to be provided.
  • Ensuring optimum level of spare parts for each specific factory based on specific factory requirements.
  • Use the stock control system to monitor stocks of spare parts.
  • Controlling receipts and issuing of materials
  • Working to departmental procedures and standards, whilst revising these to improve departmental efficiency when required.
  • Direct involvement with the overall Maintenance Team including direct line manager and maintenance fitters.
  • Reading and understanding technical drawings to order spare parts.
  • Complete all purchases as per company procedures.
  • Clearing invoices as per close-down procedure
  • Completing stock checks in line with accounting procedures
  • Handling the purchasing of the stock of H&S equipment and PPE as per guidance provided by Health and Safety Officer
  • Provide management reports as directed by line manager.
  • Any other duties as required and as deemed within your competence.

Essential Criteria:

  • A good standard of education to GCSE /A-Level standard
  • Proven track record of stores experiences ideally in an engineering /manufacturing environment;
  • Working experience of computerised stock; control system;
  • Administration experience.
  • Mechanical experience.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings

Desirable Criteria:

  • Mechanical qualification.
  • Health & Safety awareness
    Engineering experience
