Engineering Production Manager 1+ Years

Duties Include

Health & Safety

Ensuring that everyone is committed to Health and Safety and that safe working practices are being adhered to.

  • Team Members being properly trained on equipment being used and that the proper equipment is available and working across the all sites.
  • Through Safe Working Practices, Standard Operating Procedures are established
  • Site safety – Insurance inspection, Fire Safety Reports (testing), Electrical testing etc
  • Ownership of site security at the Cloveneden road site.

 

Quality

  • Focus on quality and reducing the issues and re-work hours being achieved by Team Member involvement through daily reporting, Kaizen events, PCR’s (Production Change Request) and ECO’s (Engineering Change Orders).
  • Implement root cause fixes
  • Implementing best practice standard work on shop floor to maximise efficiency, safety and quality.

 

Planning & Scheduling

Effective planning  to  meet customer targets and deadlines with responsibility for

  • Plasma & press
  • Welding
  • Welding & Painting  Sub-Contractors
  • In-house Sub and Final Assembly builds
  • Mobile crane hire
  • Logistics of components moving through Suppliers / Contractors
  • Liaising with transport for machine despatch for on time delivery
  • Managing people to operate at home and on installation (mainly in the UK)
  • Working with Purchasing to ensure parts are available when needed (OTD)

 

People

  • Interviewing and hiring people, from Design Engineers to shop floor operatives
  • Training and coaching people, to help grow and build a team
  • Establishing a training matrix to help monitor Team Members requirements from Health & Safety to on-the-job training / progression.

 

Engineering Production Supervisor 2+ Years

  • Leading a team of 22 Team members on a sub-assembly build to supply an internal customer.
  • Manage the process from supplier to end user, ensuring all aspects of the build are in place and that of Health and safety and Quality standards are adhered too.
  • Cross training team members to achieve more efficient builds therefore improving build times.
  • Setting up floor layouts has been an important part in this along with liaising with Purchasing, Stores, Design and Manufacturing departments to ensure improved deadlines / dates were met enabling the customer to receive the product on delivery dates agreed.

 

Manufacturing Supervisor/Business Improvement Leader 3 Years

 

Responsible for  a range of duties with a focus on realising operational efficiencies and improving cost effectiveness. These were achieved through establishing best practices and processes. Achievements and experiences include:

  • Establishing ergonomic processes through the application of Lean principles to maximise floor space and manage material flow throughout the factory by planning for every part and just in time delivery.
  • Sourcing components from alternative suppliers when needed.
  • Demonstrating effective communication and utilising motivation to supervise a team of 30+ team members to meet daily and weekly targets. Oversaw cross training and integrated new team members as the team size and team targets expanded to meet growing demand.
  • Established a training matrix to identify and close skills gaps across the team, assisting planning and performance management.
  • Planning and scheduling daily and weekly targets while managing unplanned issues should they arise. To assist in this and gain accurate times for scheduling the required to operate hours were continually updated and reflected the improvement in build times and changing build times.
  • Held and facilitated daily cross-divisional production meetings for issue identification and resolution.
  • Ensured that safety best practice was adhered to including ensuring that correct equipment and proper PPE is used and that the team understood that team member safety is of paramount importance.
  • Focus on quality. Liaised with the quality department to gain a better understanding of opportunities for enhance men to reduce defects and re-work hours, working towards a goal of zero defects.
  • Meet daily and weekly targets ensuring on time delivery targets were exceeded.
